I just finished watching Watchmen, and I'm just blown away. I was expecting another mindless action superhero movie, but nay, it actually had a very interesting plot. For me, Watchmen sits above The Dark Knight.

I need to return my Netflix DVDs so I can get new ones, but I've been watching a lot of Monk lately. Only seen a few random episodes but I liked it, and in a fit of boredom I've started going through the whole series.

Just got the 3 Chan-Wook Park movies I ordered.
"Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" (2002)
"Oldboy" (2003) -the best IMO-
and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (2005)

I still have doubts on the TV show "Pushing daisies". Not that bad, but too colorful (litteraly) for my taste.

Just finished watching the final season of 24 on Netflix. I had never seen a single episode until I got Netflix. I watched all 8 seasons in about a 8 month time span. It was awesome !!!

Just finished watching Cowboy Bebop. Now on to Outlaw Star. Never really liked anime but slowly getting into it.

Been going through Ken Burns documentaries lately. In the Civil War now. Fantastic series, the best of his that I've seen. Learning a whole lot more about it than I ever did in school.

Just broke out one of my Xmas presents; the first season of SNL on DVD. I'm only in the first episode (Geroge Carlin, Billy Preston, and Janis Ian) and its clear that they went back to the broadcast masters.

OMG, the second SNL was hosted by Paul Simon. Art Garfunkel joins him (this was their mutual hate period) for an unbelievable Boxer.

I can't wait for what other gems await.

Working on Ep 3 now. Rob Reiner makes a great lounge lizard and Andy Kaufman's first SNL appearance makes me wonder why he was ever invited back.

EDIT: Break dancing in October '75 (The Lockers)? SNL was a trend-setter. Heh, Google tells me that Toni Basil was a founding member of The Lockers.

EDIT 2: Ep 3 is the monumental Belushi spaz-out to Joe Cocker. With each new skit I'm reliving my childhood/teens.

EDIT 3: Albert Brooks was the anti-funny in 1975 and nothing has changed in 36 years.

Just finished season 1 of Supernatural and watched Ep1 of Season 2 just to get the cliffhanger out of the way. Great show if you like goofy horror stuff that isn't really all that horror

Man, early SNL had a lot of Muppets. Crazy.

EDIT: You had to have watched SNL from the very beginning to understand how poignant and ironic this short movie was and is.

It played in March '78 and in March '82 he was dead. I know it's trite, but by God you had to be there to watch him live and to understand how far SNL pushed the boundaries in 1975.

OK, up to Ep 6 (22 Nov 1975). Lily Tomlin singing "St. James Infirmary" while sitting on a piano played by Paul Shaffer (even then wearing Elton John glasses) with the entire SNL band wearing nurses uniforms. Just try to tell me that that works in any other decade.

Just started season 1 of Lost. I think I'm about 6 episodes into it. It's a little creepy at times, and other times just weird. Definitely entertaining though.

Warren Zevon's valedictory appearance on Letterman (courtesy of YouTube). A man who knows he's about to die still tossing jokes back & forth with a Letterman I haven't seen since the '80s. The deep friendship and the sense of impending loss between them is obvious, yet they both rise above mawkishness and have fun while having an extremely adult conversation.

The music don't suck, either.

At the end of the show back in the green room Warren packed up his guitar and handed to to Dave saying "take care of this". Dave was an instant puddle.
