Linux Action Show!

Wed May 04, 2011 6:32 am

I recently discovered this great show/podcast about Linux: http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/show ... ctionshow/
Didn't know about this before but apparently has been going on for a few years. Covers general linux software news and reviews. Presenters are a little opinionated sometimes (for example, they dislike Fedora) but the show is still fun and quite informative. I am a sucker for podcasts so I have subscribed to their audio version.
Anyone else like this? Or hate it? If you happen to know of similar shows, then please do comment :)

Yeah, the Debian vs. Redhat debate can get pretty heated (most current distros are derived from one or the other). Just as with CPUs, GPUs, etc. the two major Linux camps have their rabid fanboys.

And then you've got those Gentoo people... they're just off in their own little universe.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

 Yeah, I remember that one. Gotta love the mousover too!

They've done a *bunch* of Linux-related strips. A few of the better ones:

http://xkcd.com/644/

...and the mother of all XKCD Linux/UNIX humor, from April 1 last year (but has apparently been maintained ever since):

The "uni" sub-domain is a fully-functional CLI to the XKCD site... complete with some rather amusing (and sometimes self-referential) Easter eggs. Try typing some of the dialogue from #149 (first one I linked above). Or try the wget command, giving the complete URL for any web site (with leading "http://") as the argument... and yes, using wget to recursively reload the uni.xkcd.com site works too. Many other Linux CLI commands do interesting things too... and even a few commands from "old school" text-based adventure games. This is some brilliantly funny/geeky/sick stuff!

Found this long list of Linux related shows/podcasts: http://www.thelinuxlink.net/
Might give a listen to their own weekly podcast : http://www.tllts.org/ (The site's design is, uh, creative)
