Ethernet to Bluetooth Adapters?

Thu May 05, 2011 3:09 pm

I'm not using the google box right apparently :).

Anyone know if they exist or of a good quality one? Myself and a guy I work with do tech work, and we'd like to do a bit more of it via Android Tablets. However, one of the largest problems we've noticed is that we wont be able to hook up to wired networks. I was curious if there is a little dongle out there that you can plug into a single ethernet port (preferably PoE) that will transmit network data out over Bluetooth. This way we can hook into the network using bluetooth, no need to setup a quick temporary wireless hotspot or anything like that. I was hoping to find one about the size of a RJ-45 Coupler.

Or just as well, an RJ-45 connector that is powered via PoE to 802.11G/N hotspot? A single port, not a small like 3-4 port, no physical ports. Just plugs and goes?

Don't most tablets have some form of usb? If they do you can grab an mini or micro usb adapter to a usb ethernet adapter. Would be much easier to find in my opinion.
To Start Press Any Key'. Where's the ANY key?
If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing
You know, boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like a woman. You just have to read the manual and press the right buttons.

Last time I checked no tablet had usb host features so the usb to ethernet might be out. Only for the dedicated "official" addons.

There were reports of the Android 3.0 having USB Host features, but driver support isnt there and its not enabled in the OS right now. Supposedly their is a group out there that is working to get USB Host abilities on the root level. I know im staying tuned. Plus the idea is that the tablet should be bulk free... so having it where it can openly connect wirelessly is the goal.

I'd been pulling my hair out looking for the same thing and found this....

www.connectblue.com

I bought this.

It works great with my XP laptop, but i'm having trouble getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab to work. It will pair, but won't connect. I'm sure its an issue with some sort of limitation on the tab
