Left half of image is my primary monitor, right half is secondary.

Happened very suddenly and seems to increase dramatically from the pattern of 8 pixels to more than 15 in a grouping depending on what is in the forefront. Difficult to read this text on the monitor at the moment.

Does not appear under the following circumstances:
Startup/Shutdown process when desktop is not displayed.
Welcome screen
POST

It is as soon as the desktop is loaded. Switching back and forth between the welcome screen and desktop does not relieve the issue. Reappear whenever I return to the unlocked desktop.

Sweet baby jesus, just noticed something else.
If I move this browser window so that it is straddling the two monitors, not only is the desktop of the primary.... ahh screw explaining it, here's another screen shot:

Narrowed it down to the 8800GTS in my system (also have an 8800GT in there. I initially didn't suspect graphics card death because of the fact the pixels were crossing displays like that, but I guess the primary was still rending the window. Knowing that, I guess it is dying a pixelated death?

So this thread takes a fantastic turn: Recommended a card! I am not a fanboy. AMD/ATI-Whatever the hell they are now or NVidia, doesn't matter to me. Just no 3dfx, hear they aren't doing so well. I am not a heavy gamer, but when I do game, it tends to be graphically intensive ones (minecraft being an exception there).
I've been getting along just fine with my 8800GT and GTS for awhile now, so anything new is going to feel pretty good.

Any good value points that keep the bells and whistles but don't make it so I can't afford even a whistle?

If you can't RMA it and you're not going to use it then try to bake it (with ventilation). Or do a reflow if you have the means to.

Have you looked into the state of your video card heatsink lately? If you find a dead fan, or a dust bunny packed to the density of fiberboard, a thorough cleaning might actually get it running again. As a stop-gap measure, you can also try down-clocking the core and memory.

I'm offended you would suggets that it'd be dirty... I'm very good about dusting at least once every ten years...

Ok, so the density was less fiberboard, more drywall...

Check that the fan on the graphics card still spins, too. They're prone to failure.

If you need a new gaming graphics card, a Radeon HD6950 looks like a good performer. GeForce GTX560Ti would probably be fast enough for you if you want to stay with NVidia.
