Today has been a very bad day for me. I was stress testing my pc with prime95 and came back home to find that it would not boot. No lights, no post, nothing. I pulled the power cable from the PSU and held down the power switch on the case. The pc booted when I reinserted the power cable. However, since then its been making a high pitched whine/crackle type noise whenever the cpu is doing anything or whenever I use my mouse or keyboard. The only thing that helps a bit is disabling power saving features of the cpu (cie, eist, etc). It sounds like the noise is coming from the board. This annoys me because my build is a quiet build. Literally this high pitched whine/crackling is the loudest thing in my box.

Has anyone ever had to deal with electrical whine from their PC and successfully solved it without an RMA?
