Comments wanted on PC case and power supply

Tue May 24, 2011 6:28 pm

I am very sorry that I can not show the URLs for the two items below. I tried a number of times and can not get the correct ones at New Egg. However, if one copies: Cooler Master RC-942-KKN1 and seaches on New Egg it will brig up the items. The other one is Seasonic X750

I have chosen the following two items for my new PC build : a Cooler Master RC-942-KKN1 case and a Seasonic X750 Power supply.

Is this a good unit or is there a better 750 watt power supply? Any faults?

I wonder if the case is too large to be practical and are there faults in the unit?
It was chosen because it has USB3,USB2,e-sata, hotswap drive, lots of 5.25 and 3.5 drive bays. I had looked at many
cases and could not find one with all of the above features.

Any comments, criticisms, suggests and recomendations will be greatly appreciated!

Here's the link for the psu. Probably overkill for most basic computer setups. An excellent choice though.

Here's the link for the case. That's a big honking case. A little pricey for me, but it's really a nice case.

The seasonic is pretty hard to beat if you care about noise. Its silent up to like 150w loads. I own one, and I am extremely pleased. Don't plan on replacing it unless there's a much cheaper completely fanless unit.

Is this the same build you were posting about a few months ago? That case and PSU look like very nice (fairly high end) components. You don't really *need* to spend anywhere near that much, unless you've got money to burn or are into spending extra to really future-proof your system.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I want to thank you three folks for your very helpful information !

I am new to PC building and wanted confirmation on my two units so I could feel confident on my choices. I feel much better now about my choices! Many thanks!

Yes,you are correct. I am the one who had questions a few months ago. I am aiming for a build that will last some time and can be upgraded. I am willing to spend the money for that purpose.

When I get all the parts selected for a build, I will put then on TR's forum so I, hopefully, will get answers telling me if I have the correct parts or comments about better parts.

Again, Thanks to all of you for your very helpful information!
