Is This the RAM for Me and My Motherboard?

Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:07 am

My sound-card should be arriving soon, maybe tomorrow. So the next upgrade will be from 2GB of RAM to 4GB.

Is this the best kind of RAM that I should get? If not, what would you suggest?

Thanks! :)

The modules from Adata, G.Skill and Kingston look great at $57.99, and yes, that's your RAM.

Try one of these.
2x2 GiB PC2-6400 (DDR2-800), CAS 5, 1.8 V

You might also see if someone who has recently upgraded to Sandy Bridge might sell or give you an old LGA 775 motherboard that has 4 DIMM slots instead of two.
· R7-5800X, Liquid Freezer II 280, RoG Strix X570-E, 64GiB PC4-28800, Suprim Liquid RTX4090, 2TB SX8200Pro +4TB S860 +NAS, Define 7 Compact, Super Flower SF-1000F14TP, S3220DGF +32UD99, FC900R OE, DeathAdder2

You're doing it again :(.

The list you created contains the three I mentioned in the post above, which the OP readily found.

1.8 V DIMMs are a better choice than ones that require extra voltage to run reliably at their claimed speed rating.

Lower latency modules are better than higher latency modules, all other factors being equal.

The OP's selection included six kits from Kingston and four kits from G.Skill.

If you have an issue with me personally posting in this forum, please send me a PM so it can be discussed. This is your second post in this thread where you have refused acknowledge my posts and have repeated the same information, and I think you or any moderator on this forum would agree that such behavior causes confusion. Thanks!

Thanks for listening.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Yeah? Well how much do you think such a motherboard might cost? Do you think it's a good idea to buy a used motherboard? Do you know from where I could get one? Maybe I will, if the price is right, BEFORE buying RAM. But you know what I should buy and about how much it should cost hehehe

Okay, I guess no one's going to answer that, so I'm just gonna buy the RAM. Maybe in the future I can have such a board, but meanwhile, I'll just go and get this RAM for the board I have hehe

At this point, you're better off saving for a new motherboard, CPU and RAM- but I can tell you that even with a dual-core, I saw a huge performance jump in anything gaming related when going from 2GB to 4GB.
