If I had to pick between the two (I picked ASRock for my Intel build, sorry!), I'd go with Asus for the best-in-class UEFI and DTS encoding support. I'd expect them to be roughly equal in just about everything else.

Does anyone have either of these motherboards? I was wondering how the fan control is on the Asus vs the Gigabyte 900X?

Reviewers usually complain about Gigabyte's 'lacking' fan control compared to Asus. The fan control on my ASRock board is pretty robust..

Hmmm true enough. Although from the very few reviews that are out there for the gigabyte they seem to have a different better performing USB 3.0 controller.

Sound and network chips don't matter since I have discrete cards for both. I guess I will have to wait for more gigabyte 990xa reviews.

There's always the ASRock 890FX Deluxe5 as well. :P
