And so far, it's not bad.

I got the gray Samsung Series 5. Bought the 3G version. I'm on day two of using it and I'm considering doing a full writeup with pictures and everything. Would you read it?

Also, have any of you guys gotten a chromebook?

In a couple of years, chromebooks will become viable but right now they are simply missing too much functionality. I would love to move my father to a zero-maintenance system but I can't do that as long as support for e.g. cameras or scanning is lacking. We'll get there eventually, but right now a HP dm1z is a better investment (typing on one of those as we speak - great machine!)

how is chrome book different than a tablet? other than the fact that it has physical keyboard?

Battery life, weight, physical dimensions, app library.

I've got a Cr-48. I like it quite a bit as a secondary machine for the living room.

Well, it's essentially a netbook that is web-browser only. The iPad has way more apps, but no physical keyboard. Going with the iPad 2 would've been okay by me, but I don't want to lug around a keyboard dock station.
