GPU Core Error

Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:10 pm

So I've been putting the i7-2820QM in my W520 to decent use folding for the team (only when on AC power, sorry) but want to use my graphics card as well. The Quadro 1000M doesn't seem to like folding though
I'm getting
 CoreStatus = 63 (99)
 + Error Starting Core

It requires core 15, which the program says it's getting. I'm almost positive I have the most recent drivers installed.
My only issue is it says it's running Core 2.15. I downloaded the most recent version off of the stanford website which I though had the 3rd gen. core required by Fermi cards.
Any ideas to resolve this?

Yup, I've seen this before. I had the same problem with my GTS450. I fixed it by running an older version of the nVidia driver. I downloaded the last 3 or 4 drivers from nVidia and just installed/uninstalled until one worked. Now if only I could remember which one worked. :)

I'm using a GTS 450, and the driver version I'm running is 266.58, apparently. Always takes me several seconds to recall how to decode the reported numbers into the "standard" version, depending on how long it's been since I last checked. There may be newer versions available which work, since Windows 7 reports it being from January 7, 2011, but I haven't tested any since installing it. It works, which is enough for now.

I appreciate it, JAE, but I meant which work for folding. I've seen reports of new drivers being released, but the need to test whether they work without crashing generally meant it's probably more trouble than any likely gain. And I have generally concluded my time is better spent in other ways.

Edit: Maybe I shouldn't reply to threads after a certain hour. It occurred to me later that you may well have been using my post as an illustration of a more recent WHQL driver for the original poster's use.
