Test bandwidth between two computers?

Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:23 pm

I have a HTPC and a Windows Home Server and recently when streaming videos it has started to stutter. I have a WRT600N and the HTPC is the only device on the 5Ghz band and the server is hardwired into the router. Anyway to test this or speed it up.

Possibly go with a Powerline networking kit.

You could try Iperf and have a look at some of the information in this thread Link

I recently had to test out the same scenario with my Boxee media server with my ReadyNas going from a 100mb intranet over to a gigabit intranet.

Like the thread that Dirge mentions, blue_bludger points out a tool called PCATTCP which is very useful!

But I later opted with an app called LAN Speed Test v1.1.6 (Free) as the other version v2.0.6 limits some functionality (but it's only $5.00!).
