Im coming from using my mother's Netbook with the atom N270 with 1gb of ram that I took when I was going on trips. It was good enough for 90% of the things I wanted to use it for. I have looked at the Llano offerings that are out so far but have been very disappointed with the weight that they all carry (really don't want anything larger than a 12.1in, 4lb). As far as games are concerned I think it should handle many of the older games that I haven't gotten around to playing yet...CIV IV is the most demanding, I have played this to death but would be happy if thats the only game that works. The list looks like this: Deus Ex & Invisible War, Half-life 1 (worked on atom), Max Payne 1 & 2 (worked on atom for 1), Serious Sam: First & Second Encounter, Portal 1, Far Cry 1, Knights of the Old Republic, and Torchlight (worked on atom with netbook setting). I really want to be able to view pictures that I take while on a trips from my DSLR and make some pictures good enough to email a few as far as photos go. I think I would be fine with a dual core atom (N550) but I really like the higher resolution of the dm1z...most dc atoms only have 1 gb of ram and windows 7 starter which can both be changed but for that price I can get the dm1z which has AMD graphics.
