Civ V for $12.50 or $15 - Steam

Steam is having a weekend sale on Civ. You can grab the regular version for $12.50 or the Deluxe edition for $15.

The game has been fixed a lot since its broken release. Single-player is nearly tip top now, only MP still needs some work.
There is a fixed amount of intelligence on the planet, and the population keeps growing :(

Agreed. Civ5 is quite sweet. Of course I mostly play LAN games so I'm still a little bitter... The end/beginning of turn lag is awful...

Edit: Also the AI is still pretty flaky, but upping the difficulty works pretty good, I know it's cheating but it doesn't feel too much like it.
