You Sum Biotch!!
I was very curious,so yes ya got me:)
I am a old AMD fanboy, from my 900 tbird,to my 1400 tbird then a 2400xp @2.2ghz all on the same motherboard, then the old 130mn 940pin fx-53 2400mhz running at 2700mhz with registered corsair dominator ram of some kind on a nforce 150 motherboard 9800xt upgraded to a x800xt,then my masterpiece, all water cooled 4800x2 @ i think 2.9 ghz with x1800xts in crossfire with the goofie master card slave card setup with the weird video dongle that hooked the two cards together.
Then a buncha years of silence then a couple dell hd zinos with 3250e1.5ghz x2s for the tvs.Now my monster what a upgrade.Too bad consoles are limiting the advancements of graphics. In 2006 when i sold my 4800x2 system and 24 inch dell monitor i thought by this time we would have lifelike graphics with the pace pcs set from my original pentium 60 to the 4800x2 system with the graphics quality maturing at a alarming rate.Well about the same amount of time has passed and graphics went from getting better every 6 months to it seems every 2 years if that. Thanks alot consoles.
LOL I blabbed again.
Looking forward to reading bulldozer reviews,Amd will always have a place in my heart, same thing goes for ATI.But when i built this rig i was thinking futureproof,so far i have had it 5 months and its still top of the line. From 2001 to 2005 even if you bought the best something a lot better was out in 3 -4 months,it was frustrating trying to stay on pace.I can actually have time to save upgrade money for something else.
Imm kinda ashamed to be running a intel cpu with nvidia cards,AMD dropped the ball in my book.

Heh heh... though I haven't been *exclusively* AMD the whole time since then, I used an AMD CPU in the very first PC I ever built. Here's the chip:
Image

That's AMD's version of the Intel 8080, circa late 1970s. Ran at a whopping 2 MHz, synchronous with the system bus (there was no concept of a clock multiplier in those days). Yes, AMD has been making Intel-compatible CPUs for over 30 years, all the way back to the 8-bit days!

(The first "modern" AMD CPU I used was a 200 MHz K6... it ran Windows NT 4 really well! Been using AMD CPUs pretty much exclusively ever since.)

Indeed. Back in those days, "building a PC" generally meant you needed to use a soldering iron at some point!

(Nowadays I only haul out the soldering iron when I get a card with crappy caps that blow after a year or two...)

hehe! It was dark, so no pics, but I can assure you they will be taken! One thing for sure it is a big mofo and it can "process" a lot of dirt quickly. Being I have no swimming pool and how damned hot it was this summer, I am pretty excited.

In the mean time my lowly 2-core AMD is chugging along and still locking up on an irregular basis. It is going to be a LONG time before I upgrade thanks to this pond.

My neighbor is taking a day off from work just to watch the hole get dug. At least I am not THAT bad. Only taking a half day ;-).

Of fish? Probably bass, walleye, and if I am lucky, trout. Maybe some fancy goldfish for fun.

You got me beat. I've got a CPU/RAM daughterboard out of an old Zenith PC that sports an AMD 286 clone. The machine it came out of ran DOS 2.0 and even had a copy of old-school MechWarrior (the 1989 version) still on the hard drive!

Now that's some REAL water-cooling, dude.

Better make sure you de-ionize your pond water to avoid corrosion. ;)

A slide show of specs/benchmarks but the values have been omitted and this could be what AMD has already released on their website and relate to that crazy OC video that came out.

I still think it's funny that AMD codenamed their next proc after something that has never been known for its speed. Powerful badass-ness, perhaps, but not speed.

Rode in one of those with my uncle while he was knocking down trees for his pond when I was 8, and it was awesome. Have fun :-)

Not until Monday or Tuesday. Not a lot of trees for it to smush, but it will be fun anyhow! Hmm, makes me think I should charge the ancient camcorder (my cam has no video mode).

So LS, did you rent this and do the work yourself, or is this a contracted hire-a-professional do-it job?

No, no. That little kid did it... With his bare hands! Swear!

I see your in new york,How deep will it be.I would have large and smallmouth bass, smallies fight alot better pound for pound. What about crappie and good ole sunnys.trout are tough to keep alive in ponds, some kinds more then others. As for the walleyes i though they were semi deep cold water fish,Never caught one below North western pa in my travels/fishing.Dont waste your money on goldfish or koi,you will probably never see them. But the herons will and then they will be gone.
Enjoy!

Well, that pond is bigger than most of the man-made ones I see here in VT. The hills off to the left offer a prospect of continuous fresh water replacement, which means trout might be in play (they demand the freshest water). Stocking walleye would be a service to the fishing community as they seem to be the first fish picked off the list in lakes (and I'm talking about Lake Champlain) that have invasive species problems.

Walleye require a deep cold clean pond, usually more than 1/2 acre and 18 feet deep. We are shooting for 22 feet, 3/4 acre so barely large enough. Since the pond will be quite large, the herons can only feed on the shore line, so no worries about easily cleaned-out fish. However we do get the occasional Osprey, so that can be a bit annoying. Still will probably get some goldies, just cheap ones.

I worked with a nice guy a few years ago who had a pond about the same size and he had a healthy population of waleye, bass, and sunnys. It was an awesome pond and very natural-looking. It was inspiration for our pond.

The pond is being professionally dug by a local contractor which came highly recommended. Very reasonable price after getting several quotes. Pond digging probably varies the most out of any bids we have shopped for, almost 50% spread. Ours wasn't the cheapest one, but he also owns a gravel pit for dealing with our driveway so it works out for us. I would have loved to give it a go myself but on a smaller project first.

Almost done! I think I may be able to swim in this one when/if it fills! The excavator goofed and made it a bit larger than thought! Hmmm. Hopefully the same doesn't happen with the bill.
