ASRock Fan Control

Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:06 pm

I am preparing to jump on the Sandy-wagon as soon as Bulldozer comes out (when Intel finally drops their prices since the release) or sometime around the holiday season (whichever comes first, haha). I noticed the ASRock Extreme series mobos with PCI-Express 3.0 support (which I would like to have in order to possibly upgrade to Ivy Bridge in a couple years perhaps) and really like their feature set/price/etc etc. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the fan controls in ASRock's UEFI are. I've noticed that ASUS's UEFI fan control is the top dog right now. I really like their temp. - fan speed mapping graph and would like to have something of the sort. Any comments on ASRock's fan speed controls or UEFI in general are greatly appreciated.

Maybe I just wait for the 7 series chipsets to come out for a better selection/competition?

From what I can tell, their fan speed controls in the UEFI are pretty extensive. Check this out:

Or if you prefer German: http://www.pctreiber.net/2011/asrock-z6 ... iew.html/4
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Thanks, I have also looked at the motherboard manual from ASRock website and it seems as though there are 3 settings for fan speeds: Full on (100%), Automatic, and Manual (Level 1 - 4). My question now is, are there any owners that can tell me if the "automatic" mode gives the user the ability to set fan speeds at user defined temperatures (like ASUS) or if "automatic" mode just uses fixed fan speed/temperature cutoffs?
