Buy a second GTX 460 or a single GTX 560?

Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:22 pm

I currently have an EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked. If I were to spend some money, would it be better spent on a second GTX 460 and go the SLI route or jump to a single GTX 560?. They're roughly the same price, but I'm curious about the diminishing returns of each option.
Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work, you can always hit them with it.

The 560 isn't enough a jump over the 460, particularly the Superclocked model by evga (I've the same card). If you are going to upgrade to a single card solution, you'd only really find value in a 570/6950-level, and that is only at 1920x1080 or higher resolutions. And given how close we are to the 7xxx series, if you wait you can get either a better deal on this gen, or score a solid single-card solution.
