Rest In Peace Steve Jobs

Wed Oct 05, 2011 6:42 pm

Title says it all. I'm not the hugest Apple fan but this is a sad day.

Apple.com has a tribute up on the front page.

Even though I'm not a huge Apple fan, I did have a Titanium Power Book in grad school (G4 at 1Ghz in a notebook! Incredible for 2002!) I have a lot of fond memories about that thing, including having a Unix prompts with SSH sessions all over campus open over a beautiful GUI. Steve Jobs was always able to express himself through Apple's products. You might not always like his expression, but you could tell that he really did care very much about what Apple's products were all about.

Rest in peace, Steve.

He achieved exceptional things in his life. Few men can achieve what he did. He was more visible than most higher ups, but that made his contribution to each Apple product that much more meaningful. Hopefully Apple can live on and continue his legacy.

Dang. I couldn't stand "Lord Jobs", but I will say this guy new how to run a business, market and develop brand loyality. He was a great leader, as witnessed by the cult following he has.
No matter how bad the new homepage sucks or how bungled the new management is...

To all the original writers/contributors and volunteers, please know that I have nothing but the deepest love for you and the work you've done.

I wouldn't wish pancreatic cancer on my worst enemy. It is nearly 100% fatal, and can be excruciatingly painful.

No matter how one feels about Steve Jobs or Apple, the tech industry has lost a great force in design, innovation, and sales.

Yeah, pancreatic cancer is nasty. I had a VP at my last company die from it, he was feeling sick from what he thought was the flu for a month or so. He went in to the doctor to get checked out, they told him he had fatal pancreatic cancer and had 3 weeks to live. He lasted about a month...

RIP Steve. Truly a visionary. He saw things and made them reality. That's a rare talent.
