First Time Bootup w/card --> BIOS display?

I am about to build my first computer this weekend, and I had a quick question: can I plug up my LCD monitor via DVI straight to my graphics card (my mobo doesn't have a VGA port) and still get video on my screen during the first time bootup, in the BIOS?
