I'm stuck in Logan Airport right now, but will be back in Philly sometime tonight. Plan on putting Android on tomorrow. Is it a dual boot scenario, or can you have it auto boot into Android?

I'll be slapping it onto my TP once I get home. Looks like it's a dual-boot scenario but by default boots into Android.

I've been pretty happy with WebOS 3.0. With how buggy and limited featured the cyanogenMod is, I'll wait for a couple of revisions.

I like WebOS3 as well, but despite the dev's claims, people using the alpha seem to say its surprisingly stable and usable, as well as mostly feature complete. Seeing as how I can't use the camera in the TouchPad without PAYING for another app, I'd say thats a boon too.

Considering there's no fast ebook reader (pReader is slow and cuts off the bottom of my booklist while Amazon Kindle is just slow), no decent PDF reader (Adobe Reader is slow and doesn't even reflow text) and a poor web browser (Advanced is a bit better but still pretty bad), to the point where I spend half my time in Ubuntu just to have useful apps (and believe me, Ubuntu is NOT touchscreen optimized), I'd say even an alpha of Cyanogenmod is likely to be nearly as good if not better.

However, I'll see later and will report back. I'll definitely miss card view but I won't miss the random lags.

Also, especially since the GPU and both CPU cores are actively used by Android/Cyanogen, thats also another performance boon as well. By default, WebOS3 doesn't use the GPU and only uses 1 CPU core.

I have two free apps for this.... when I get home, I'll post their names. Wait. They are in an article.

Had one hard crash but overall it's working very well. It's running surprisingly speedy too.

Too bad there are some apps that simply aren't designed for a large screen.

However, now I have an excellent PDF reader, ebook reader, video player, comic reader and web browser all running smoothly without weird pauses. This already far exceeds what WebOS gave me.

Nice, looking forward to trying this but probably once it's developed just a bit more.

WebOS is really quite nice for a mobile OS, multitasking on it is fantastic, it's just too bad HP didn't optimize it enough or properly for the Touchpad hardware. I didn't even get into any WebOS 'hacks' yet like overclocking or the other perofrmance hacks, maybe I'll give that a spin first.

Definitely this. I love the difference. Really took it from okay to being pretty awesome (for me). I love the SMEs app. And as a kindle reader I am satisfied.

In the end it's just the little things that eventually turned me off WebOS (and it's not WebOS's fault technically).

For example, scrollbars. Whenever you try to scroll a long list in WebOS, there are simply no scrollbars. Not only you can't tell where you are on a page, but you can't quickly jump to a point on the page except by rapidly flicking your finger to scroll down.

Anyway, I'm glad Android does sideloading. Opera Mobile didn't show up in the market for some reason but a quick sideload later, it's running like butter in full screen.

Also, the WebOS keyboard (when it's not freezing up) is much nicer than the Android one. I'll probably get Swiftkey X later to have a better keyboard. At least Android supports alternate IMEs (no Chinese input for YOU in WebOS).

I've decided to wait until they come out with Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is in process and the current version is the older Gingerbread (rather than the current Honeycomb).

New WebOS 3.0.4 today, in case you're sticking with the HP software. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4977/hp-t ... ne-pairing

(also, FWIW, Anrdoid 2.3.x is still seeing active development even from Google, and CyanogenMod has a bunch of tablet mods that should make it more useful on those devices)
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

3.0.4 is awesome. Much smoother and faster. It kills overclocking until the next PreWare and kernels are released, but the update is great. Speed is 3.0.4 @ 1.2 ghz > 3.0.2 @ 1.5 ghz.

Nice characteristics.
