Better late than never... just added my Phenom II X6 1090T burn-in and a Phenom II X2 I had sitting around to TRFrankenbot. 8 cores of folding goodness!

Here's a pic:
Image

The X6 is on top, the X2 is underneath.

My F@h system monitoring page is here; the TRFrankenbot systems are the 2nd and 3rd ones down (system names "rauchbier" and "lambic"). The PPD projections on the monitoring page do NOT include the SMP bonus, so they're way low; I still haven't gotten around to modifying my web monitoring tool to calculate the bonuses properly... :-?

Some other random thoughts:

- The stock cooler that came with the 1090T is frikkin' loud. I've got an extra CoolerMaster tower cooler somewhere in my piles o' stuff here, I think I will be replacing that cooler sooner rather than later.

- The 1090T is also serving as my Ubuntu 11.10 testbed. The default (Unity) desktop pisses me off a lot, and the optional legacy GNOME shell pisses me off a little (it's GNOME 3 now instead of GNOME 2, so it is only "legacy" in the sense that it is not Unity). Maybe it is time to try KDE again...

- At least the current Linux SMP F@h client on Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't need the runtime library hack to get it to run.

- Just noticed something... WTF is with my Athlon II X4 (system name "tripel", 4th one down on the monitoring page)? 5917.87 PPD can't be right... must have the wrong point value in my DB, or F@h screwed up the point calculation for this WU...

Nice setup JBI, I like that ghetto fan blowing across the chipset heatsink using the crate's own holes. Did you do something to make it not move from the spinning fan?

As of the 6pm EDT update:
1  TRFrankenbot      181,736    9,081,590
2  Ronwell_Q._Dobbs   78,426   31,707,137
3  JPinTO             72,007  113,524,083

Frankie is now top TR producer for the past 24 hours at least!

That was a last minute afterthought, when I noticed that the chipset and VRMs seemed to be running pretty hot. You'd be surprised how toasty things can get with a motherboard sitting out in the open like that. Without the "wind tunnel" effect you normally get with a system inside a case, I think you end up with a cloud of stagnant warm air sitting over the motherboard that the CPU fan just keeps recirculating. If you put your hand at the far end of the motherboard (behind the CPU and VRMs) you can feel a very warm breeze coming off the motherboard from that fan.

There's also a 120mm fan laying down flat at the right rear corner of the crate, to ensure that the X2 system underneath gets some airflow too.

The whole setup is rather ghetto, and I thought it was apropos for TRFrankenbot... it's my 2011 Frankencrate!

It's a fairly low CFM 80mm Scythe, so just the weight of the fan seems to do a pretty good job of keeping it in place. I've got the motherboard wedged up against it just to be sure.

Just watched the X6 start a new WU. Core temps had dropped to 31C while the previous WU was being sent, and rapidly (only took a couple of minutes) ramped back up to 51C when the new WU kicked in...

For the past week I've had three single core CPUs in the Frankie mix for about 350 total ppd and house heat. Hardly a blip on the efforts of Frankencrate, the bigadv SMPs, and high end GPUs. But for the next eight days and nights my 9600 GSO will add about ten times those ppd and two more single core CPUs should make for a total 4,000+ ppd blip :)

We should be over 3M points in less than 24 hours. Great job everyone. Let's make Frankie super scary for this last week.

We should be able to hit 4 by the end of the month if we keep going at this pace.

I see to 80K+ updates, we need about 102K more. I hope someone's -bigadv WUs are going to be unloaded in the next few hours. My 2 SMP computers are not going to make it by midnight EDT tonight. :(

Five meeeelllllliiiiiionnnnn!! :o 8)

One of mine (the X2) will definitely make it (less than an hour to go). Unfortunately the other one (the X6) is really iffy.

Regardless of what happens, Frankie has been plenty scary this month. Much, much better than last year.

I only have one i7 bigadv popping about 8:00pm.
Stanford was giving me regular non-bigadv's over the weekend.
We will be close to 5 million.

Heh... missed the 5 million mark by *that* much! (This morning's 3:00 AM update would've pushed us over the edge...)

And to think that back on October 5th,

I did not get a snapshot, but at one point Frankie was doing 300K ppd, while sitting atop as Team TR's top producer!

Thanks for making Frankie real scary this year (summary: 5 million points, 300K ppd max, 1-day 500K points)! Now it will go back to its slumber and on to next year.
