Thanks!

The girl wasn't that high from the ground really, I took the photo from near ground level to avoid the crowd filling the background.. and still had to clone a few away :)

A few weeks ago nearby rapids were drained empty to repair dam walls. Some fish were left in small pools when water went. There were also many treasure hunters with metal detectors looking for coins, engagement rings etc.

Beautiful shot, but you need to clone out the electric line tower. Should be easy to do.

Were you using a fill-flash for those shots into the sun?

I did not fire a single flash. Mostly the light was either soft enough to get some light on the couple or I used an adjustment brush in Lightroom to add around .5-.75 EV to the couple.

Finally had a chance to get outside a bit at the end of last month. The fall colors were running about two weeks late this year:

Also, a bit of high-contrast B&W using a Red #29 stacked on a Circular Polarizer, and then applying a red-filter effect during post-processing:

It has been awhile since anyone has posted so I figured I would break the silence...this was taken last night with the full moon lighting the foreground quite nicely. It is a stack of around 175 photos each 30 seconds long, and I will post the video once I have it uploaded to Vimeo. Hope you guys like it!

Nice star trails jobodaho. I'd like to do that one day, but need to find a good location. Our backyard sky is plenty dark, but not really much of a landscape to set off the stars.

Wow -- nice bird shots! Those are really hard to compose, especially given that the subjects tend to be fidgety.

Thanks! Yeah, a lot of cropping goes on in my processing. The hawk shot is a rare-for-me full-frame photo which let me get by with 3200 iso.

I was just in New Mexico for business reasons and I was able to sneak out for a few hours to White Sands National Monument...the sunrise was a bust, so I mostly focused on panoramas with my 17mm tilt-shift on my 60D.

A random wrap-up from the holidays.

Part of a Willamette Valley farm that was converted for retreat use near Newberg, Oregon. The rain had briefly stopped, just long enough to make this shot possible:
Image

Guitar time around an elevated firepit. It was dark enough that I shot this using the EF 28mm f/1.8 at f/2.2 and ISO-6400. Totally makes the 7D worthwhile:
Image

A shot into the firepit, then dramatically color-shifted in post-processing:
Image

Lucky art shot. My camera was still on the tripod from a group photo and she decided to try and capture myself and the camera with a fisheye. So I fired a frame back:
Image

Best shot I got of Mt. Hood, from the Trillium Lake trail (Red #29):
Image

A mortared stone bridge, same area (Red #29):

And a neat little frosted pond (Red #29):

Just got from my road trip across the country to Canberra for Christmas, thought I'd put a few photos from the trip

What the front of the ute looked like after arriving in Canberra, went through a locust swarm on the first day.

WA to Canberra?!? Damn, son, I like to drive but that's just epic.

Also, in the row of "which critter will I hit" I get the camel and the roo, but not the one in the middle. Wombat?

EDIT: Do the police in WA and SA have the same hate for speeding as those in Victoria?
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Yes, it's a wombat, and the cops share the same love of revenue raising. It's an epic trip. For me it was a 50km under 4,000km each way. Not one I want to do anytime soon, but I'll definitely do it again.

I was in Biloxi, and this pier was west of the Beau Rivage Hotel/Casino just off the highway. I wish I had a more attempts at this, but unfortunately I had just the one night...
