Hello hello!,

So I indeed do need some gaming pcs parts, all for a budget around 600 or under.FOr parts, i need something that'll run Shogun: Total war 2, Skyrim, recent call of duty releases, Battlefield 3. I know I'm asking alot for my such tight budget, but for now until I get more money for new parts, I just want to play on medium low, atleast just run them without lag problems and such. So I need a good pc build for 600.00, willing to go over maximum for 50, 100 if it is a must. But for the meantime 600. I'd deeply appreciate it, if you would give me a link to a site where I can buy the parts. Thanks alot, and if you need more info, just post a comment. THANKS!

These micro-ATX motherboards can do everything that a larger (and more expensive) ATX motherboard can do. Asus has the best UEFI implementation, but Gigabyte offers the Z68 chipset for what Asus charges for the H67.

This is plenty of memory. The H67 chipset will downclock the faster memory to 667 MHz (DDR3-1333), anyway.

The Antec Three Hundred is a well-ventilated case with much better build quality than the Rosewill, CoolerMaster or Gigabyte cases that cost half as much.

Do you already have monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, headphones, etc? Do you have any components in your existing system that you would want to re-use?

Modern games are really starting to take advantage of more than two cores.
Ideally, you want a 2500K, but that and it's Z68 or P67 board eats up quite a lot of the budget that you'd be better spending on a GPU.

The cheapest i5 is the 2300 at $185, and if you're tempted to go down the AMD route, dont. A $200 Phenom II X6 ties with puny dual-core intel chips in most games.
On the graphics front, I'd go with the TR reviews: At $225 you can get a GTX 560Ti. The 1GB HD6950 is good if you have a bit more to spend, the HD6870 is good if you have a bit less.

Shogun 2 can crush through CPU and GPU power. Is this system something you're looking to tide you over or do you plan on holding onto it? If it's the former, I can sell you my current Phenom X4 9950 + Mobo + 8GB of RAM for the price of that i3. PM if you're interested.

I would recommend an i3-2100 ($125). This will get you decent gaming performance for cheap. If paired with the right motherboard (having PCIe 3.0 compatability) you can upgrade to a nice ivy-bridge processor sometime after they come out next April and you have more money on hand. If you're not thinking you'd like to upgrade in a year or so, I would recommend the i5-2400 ($190) as it is a true quad core and its only $5 more than the 2300 on newegg right now. It seems as though its price has gone up a bit since the last TR System Guide.

You may also consider a 400W - 450W power supply depending on how much stuff you plan on adding in the future, of if you plan on getting a much beefier GPU. The 380W Earthwatts is a good PSU and is well matched for the econobox with an i5-2400 and a 6850. Here is the power supply calculator I like to use.

Motherboards are tough to recommend without knowing your needs/wants. Here is a nice Z68 (can use quick-sync to encode video, SSD caching, and overclock unlocked "K" series processors) with PCIe 3.0 for a future Ivy-Bridge upgrade for $115 after MIR

If you are planning on getting an i3-2100 or i5-2400 and sticking with it for a couple years then you can get by with a H61 or H67 chipset. I would still recommend ASRock as they seem to be right on par with ASUS (theyre actually a sister company of ASUS) while coming in at lower prices. (you wouldnt need PCIe 3.0 support for this option) This may be a cheaper ($75) option if it satisfies all your needs.

I got an AMD 6850 in May for $115 after MIR from newegg open box which are typically in the ~$150 range regular price right now ($130-140 after MIR). I couldn't be happier with this card. I am like you, I like to play games at good framerates with medium-high quality levels without breaking the bank which this card has allowed me to do. If you've got a bit more money to spend the 6870 is probably your next logical step up which delivers the best price/performance ratio at that level of cards.

Also, I would be remiss not to mention that AMD and Nvidia's 28nm GPU's will be coming out in Feb. These GPUs will be much more power efficient and obviously include a performance bump. Current GPU's are at the 40nm process node.
