ATI DVD 7.6, Radeon .6043 XP Drivers

Fri Apr 12, 2002 1:06 am

They're out.

The DVD player now has a spiffy transparent hardware overlay, such that reading T-R and viewing a DVD simultaneously is effective. Mostly it's just spiffy to look at.

The drivers net a pretty decent performance boost, and I haven't had any trouble with them.

I upgraded from 6015 to 6043 yesterday and just had my first hard-lock ever with this system. If it happens regularly I'll drop back to 6015, since the performance always seemed fine to me (I upgraded from a TNT2).

I care a lot more about stability than performance, so I usually stick to released non-beta drivers. Should I upgrade to 6058 anyway?

One thing that might help stability would be to do a thorough uninstall of the old drivers, and then install the new ones. I suspect the Rage3D forums have a couple of threads about it in them, try searching for them.
