Have a Lenovo X120e netbook here at work, and wanted to get Ubuntu 10.04 LTS working on it. This turned out to be somewhat less straightforward than I'd hoped, but I managed to get it going. The issue was the RTL8188CE WiFi chip, which apparently does not have out-of-box support in 10.04 LTS.
For anyone else who is trying to make a netbook/notebook with this WiFi chip work with Ubuntu LTS:
1) Go to this page, and download the "Linux driver for kernel 2.6.24 (and later)".
2) Unpack the tarball.
3) Make sure you have the build-essential package and headers for your kernel installed.
4) Follow the instructions in Section III of the readme file packaged with the driver.
