Hi!
I'm just a beginner but I would like to learn more about computer networking. Can you recommend books on networking history? How about ones that explain networking concepts/terminology etc.? Eventually I want to get certified but first I want to get more information about it.

the cisco icnd1 book http://www.amazon.com/CCENT-ICND1-640-822-Official-Guide/dp/1587204258/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324343067&sr=8-1 is really good - you'll get some history on networking, a very basic introduction, and then technical info on networking concepts. it's great for beginners and useful if you then decide to pursue a certification.

good luck! :D
