Transferring ebooks to tablet

Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:18 am

Hi all,

I've got some ebooks (not purchased from the kindle store, they are free books). I've got a new Transformer Prime. I was hoping to use the Kindle app to read the books on my tablet, but I can't figure out where to put the books on the tablet so the kindle app will find them. I'd appreciate any help on how to get the ebooks detected.

Thanks!

I've got .lrf's and .mobi

Neither of which the basic installed reader can read :P I know the kindle app can read .mobi, if I could figure out how to get the app to find the books on the tablet.

So what you are suggesting is to convert the .mobi to a epub which the Prime book reader can read? There is no easy way to add a .mobi file to a kindle account if it wasn't purchased from the kindle store?

I don't know how to add them. That's why I suggested getting Astro to see if you can navigate to the file and then try to open it. Android will give you a list of apps usually that you can open it with. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas and would use the converter.

Oooh.. I didn't think to try that. I've been able to navigate through my Prime, but I didn't think they had an app finder like on windows..

edit: If anyone else has ideas, I'd be happy to entertain them..:)

I would consider using Aldiko instead of Kindle for reading your average non-Kindle store ebooks. Just use Calibre to convert to epubs.
