I'm told the HBO series is pretty good. I'll have to give it a try.

And you'll see maybe one of those coat of arms again in the next book where it suddenly becomes relevant that some minor house is sworn to one of the four major houses and will therefore screw over the character for that chapter.I'm the same as you, for what it's worth - I got to halfway through the 4th book, and got bored of characters getting screwed over and getting killed, and hundreds of ancillary characters getting introduced without any knowledge of which will be important and which are just there to get nobbed over shortly after.

Someone else just released a GoT RTS game. Haven't seen much about it though.
