Hi, so first off, I know windows xp home and I have a upgrade key for windows 7. I just did a fresh install of the Windows 7 but it say that the key is meant for a upgrade. Well yes of course, I agree with it, but is there anyway to not install the Windows xp first?

No there is not. You need a previous copy of windows to be installed before the upgrade key will take.

As long as you already own a qualifying key, the double install method is MS-supported.

Double install isn't necessary, there's a registry hack that will take care of it, can't remember what it is off of the top of my head though.
