Winter is over for me when in the daytime I can leave the furnace off.
Central air doesn't ever come on until June.

Winter has officially begun here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There's already a couple of inches and it's supposed to snow for the next two days. This is our first snow of the season and it's looking to be a good one.

Last few weeks was a ridiculously warm weather, hopefully this will not be an indicator of upcoming winter season, otherwise my set of dedicated winter tires will continue their sad and lonely existence in a dark and damp basement storage

We had 12" of snow about a month ago. The majority melted within a couple of days. Problem was that the trees hadn't yet lost their leaves, so it took out a ton of powerlines. That being said, its been in the 60's since, but winter seems to be on its way for real this time.

Even people up north can actually be surprised how cold Florida actually feels once it dips below 50. Its not so much the degree of whether, but there is always a lot of wind and humidity that can make it feel much much colder.

it can get down to -70 here, but it was -35 to-40 for over a month last year. I hope its better this year.

I was interested to note a couple years back that one morning it was 100 degrees colder than a July afternoon that got up to 112.

Got ready to leave for work and was greeted by this:



The low pressure system settled over south/central Kansas, setting up perfect conditions for an upslope storm along the Colorado front range. Snow started Thursday PM and continues now, with final tapering off expected by mid-morning on Saturday. Here by the foothills we got close to 20 inches, although it's worth noting that Colorado snows are fairly dry -- typically 10-12 inches per inch of water.

Same thing here in Idaho I think winter was canceled and nobody told us about it. We have almost no snow and it hasn't been very cold. The coldest night we have had was only 0 F. Usually by this time of year we have had a stretch of -20 or colder night.

Yeap. I'm really jealous (no sarcasm intended) of all the winter storms I see from the European news. Each time I look at winter tires on my car and then on outside thermometer (which is constantly displaying some nonsense around 40-50F) I start to feel very sad...

Very little winter weather here either. So far we've had only one snowfall that amounted to anything, and I was still brewing out on the patio at the end of December.

Forget snowblowers... a couple of days ago I was dealing with an issue on my sump pump!

It's still fall here. I was out doing errands without my coat yesterday. It was 75F in my garage, heated only by the sun and its proximity to my house. We have no snow on the ground.

Well, FWIW we did have to put up with three straight weeks of 40s/50s and dry brown before this storm finally came through. It's been a while since I recall driving around in January with the windows down, but this year I did it a couple days during the lunch hour.

Virginia has been much the same. We had some sleet two days ago, but it didn't even make the grass white and melted before midnight. That's as close as we've come to winter here.

I agree that could be the cause... but until it happens several years in a row, we can't tell whether it is indeed a real trend or just a statistical fluke.

I'll stop here, in an attempt not to push this thread over the R&P line...
