Ubuntu LTS to get 5 year support on desktop

Sat Feb 11, 2012 7:50 am

I guess I missed this news when it first hit, but Canonical is moving to a 5 year support cycle for both LTS (long term support) variants of Ubuntu Linux, starting with the next LTS release (which is due in a couple of months). Previously, only the "server" variant got 5 years of support.

Good news for Ubuntu fans!

Awesome. Now only if Canonical was free (mainly their Landscape monitoring solution).

Nobody's forcing you to use Landscape with it. As you've pointed out yourself, there are other free alternatives available.
