Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

OK so this looks awesome. And Tim Burton is cool, so it won't be a total waste of time. Who's going to see it with me?

This sounds like it'll be magnificently terrible. Can't wait!

I hope Bruce Campbell gets a cameo.

Looks silly. Vampires won in the 20th century, and anyway, the Washington Monument wasn't built until 1880-something, if memory serves.

We're long overdue for Vampires on waterskis. In leather jackets. Jumping over sharks.
And zombies can drive the boat.

Cornerstone laid July 4, 1848. Construction stopped in 1854 when the Know-Nothings took umbrage with the Pope's sending of a block to be installed on the inside and seized control of the society running the project. The Know-Nothings managed to add 13 courses that were of such poor quality that they were removed when construction restarted in earnest in 1879.

The gap caused by the Know-Nothings is the reason why there's a visible color change 1/3 of the way up.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

I assumed when I read the title to this thread that it was a new show on The "History" Channel. This seems like the sort of "History" that they like to show.

This. I'm a long time horror fan. I learned to read with Goosebumps in 1st grade followed very shortly by Stephen King, Ambrose Bierce and other horror writers. And even I'm sick of vampires and zombies.

Now for werewolf movies...can we have one or three that don't SUCK?

I think they went full retard on this one. But i will watch it for sure, though crazy it could be wildly entertaining

Edit: BTW if we are talking about ridiculous movies with extremely silly plots, what do you think about Iron sky?

Wasn't there one with Benicio DelTorro and Anthony Hopkins? If they didn't pull it through idk who will. I personally liked it, critics, not so much.

I've listened to the audio CDs during my long commutes.
I thought is was going to suck (no pun intended), but was quickly pulled into that fictitious version of history.
It was quite entertaining. Definitely made my commutes more bearable.
Hopefully the movie will be close to the book/audio book.

To me, this is like the movie equivalent of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Two great tastes that taste great together. You got peanut butter on my Abe Lincoln! You got chocolate on my vampire! Delicious!

The book was pretty good. I enjoyed it anyways. I'll be seeing the movie for sure.

And it seems a lot of people in this thread don't realize that its a book thats been out for more than a few years now.

it's been out for like 2 years, not more than a few. That's actually quite a bit less than a few, IMO.

ya i only found out last night that the book even existed. I read the author's "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" but missed out on Honest Abe. Don't allow me to come off as a know-it-all. :D

Tim Burton has always been a better producer than director. So, plus for producer

Wanted sucked, but Night Watch and Day Watch were good. That's a plus for the director.

Rufus Sewell? Awesome. Alan Tudyk? Awesome. Rest of the cast that I recognize looks decent.

Most importantly the trailer looks entertaining.

I haven't read the book, but I have it on good authority(the wife) that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was great, and it's the same author. That's another plus.

I'm in.

So, seeing this thread again and reading the praise for the source material... As someone unfamiliar with the books, is there any chance there's some elaborate metaphor going on here, where southern privilege is the infection that threatens to spread, infecting and enslaving their fellow men? That Lincoln, in other words, is fighting the Confederate Zombie States?

"The few, the proud" number 200,000. :-?

However, the actual definition of "few" is more than one but less than many (2 ≤ "few" < "many"). Therefore, for something to have been out more than a few years, that would mean that it was out for three years or more.

I typically use "a couple" when I mean approximately two and "a few" when I mean three to four. After that, we're at "several."
