Well, you could start taking box and unboxing pictures.

Good luck on the build. To be a new guy with all the delicious new packaging, and everything about PC building so fresh and vibrant and new in your mind.

I get a bit envious when folks start discussing the latest hardware. Fortunately, it's a treatable condition. :D

Yeah. It's a bit painful at the moment knowing my CPU is just now in Tx and I'm not getting it here in MS until Monday (This weekend is going to HURT! lol). I only have a webcam to take pictures of the hardware and such. Im guilty of opening the box on my MoBo and reading the manual. I've been watching Youtube videos (The ones from Newegg) on putting a system together. This case is really sexy. I love the how it has an air filter under the bottom of the case that you can slide out and clean occasionally. I'm still slightly freaked out over the side of the Video Card. Last I put in a video card was YEARS ago and it was pretty small. I can't say it for this one, it's bloody huge lol.

Theres tons of cables EVERY WHERE in the case too. Thats what I'm freaking out about the most is the cables. The power supply is modular though and comes with all the trimmings. I'm hoping I will not have too much trouble though I just want every thing to go SMOOTHLY. I cannot WAIT to fire this thing up though.

UPDATE!

I did it! The entire PC is built. However with the EVGA GTX560 Ti 448 (FTW) version is giving me some serious grief. 1.) Opened up the package to my unit? No disk. Cables, the voucher for Batman Arkham City was there, no booklet just a little yellow caution about how to install the power cables.

I've been surfing the forums and seeing dozens upon dozens of people having this same issue and I'm attempting to find the correct drivers so maybe I can get this thing working. I was in a panic for awhile with all the cabling and such but ended up doing a nice job I think. So far this pc is FAST! But I'm waiting on getting the graphics set before I really dig into this thing. So, heres to hoping I dont end up having to send this video card back. Maybe these drivers will work...

Tick.

Tock.

Ooooh I'm enjoying it so much! Lol, the friend has no idea yet. My old webcam isn't compatible *or so it says* so I might have to get a new one. I downloaded GameBooster and here is the analysis of my new build (Btw, my SSD shows up under "Hard drives" in the hardware manager but I can't seem to access it? O_o

I love how no one is defending AMD lol
But in all seriousness Intel is the way to go, and if you don't plan on overclocking save/better invest your money and use a an Intel motherboard DH67series rock stable or if you want the gaming chipset intel DZ68series. At work i have a scrap box that is filled with ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte motherboards they use cheap parts and die easily. I do understand the problem though, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI have the over clocking features on all over their boards (for the most part) vs. Intel that only gives you overclocking options on the top of the line boards(which are built way better then Asus, MSI and Gigabyte but cost more). So its budget vs performance. But if i was you this is the build I'd go with this build.

Cooler Master Elite 330 case -$44.99

Seasonic M12II Power supply650 watt- $119.99

Intel DZ68ZV Motherboard $174.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813121549

Intel Core i5-2500- $209.99

Corsair Vengeance 8GB kit DDR3 1600- $44.99

Corsair Force Series 3 120Gb SSD- $169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820233206

Seagate 1TB 7200rpm HD- $124.99

EVGA Geforce GTX 560 Ti -$1229 + $30 mail in rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130623

Lite-On Blu-ray Reader DVDRW- $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827106374

Masscool 120mm Fan (the case only comes with 1 rear fan)- $8.49
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835150073

OEM Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64- $99.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986

Total: $1288.39

I know the case is on the cheaper side but it does have good air flow and a surprisingly large amount of space inside. With this build you can spend an extra $20 and get the 2500k to overclock or double the memory for $50. I decided to build this system with the power in mind, not looks pretty. Personally i love Corsair products they are always rock stable and overclock well. Feel free to PM me for any system recommendations.

The OP ordered all of his components 8 days ago. Your suggestion is way late.

Intel's motherboards lack features, reliability and support. I would much rather deal with Asus.

Typically that CD is just a waste of media for any AMD or Nvidia graphics chipset. Most of us just use the reference drivers from the graphics vendor's website, which in your case would be:

Yup, I will second that. The bundled drivers are almost invariably several versions out of date anyway since the CD was pressed months ago, followed by the product sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long. When I install a new piece of hardware on a Windows system I download new drivers from the vendor's web site. Unless the driver CD also contains other potentially useful files (like say a PDF of the manual), it gets tossed in the trash as soon as I'm sure I won't be needing to RMA the product.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Uh-oh. I'm in panic mode lol

So I went with the stock cooler for my processor... Intel I-7 -2600k CPU (Haven't touched over clocking, I've left it alone). Intel monitor pops up warning me my CPU has reached a certain temp of 102.2F -- I'm starting to think maybe I should have invested into a better cooler? I've not had a single issue yet and this is the first time the warning has popped up. Any suggestions??

Uh... UNITS ARE IMPORTANT. If your processor is at 102.2F as you said, then it is by no means too hot (only 39C which is not hot in the least.
If it is at 102.2C then you are in trouble and need to get the temperature down PRONTO.

KNOW YOUR UNITS! NASA has lost enough space probes already.

Umm... yeah. If it is really at 102F, then it wouldn't be warning you since that's actually quite cool for a CPU. OTOH if the temps in that log you posted are F, then yeah it's running a little warm. (If the're in C, the system would've gone into thermal shutdown, so I think we can assume they're in F.)

Do these alerts only happen under load, or do they happen even when the CPU is idling?

If it's doing this even when idling, it really sounds to me like the HSF isn't making proper contact with the CPU.

Sounds like the HSF isn't seated in properly. Try to seat it in again and make sure that it is making good contact with the chip. If the HSF is making proper contact with the chip then it should be resist being from pull around.

The push-pins on those intel coolers is terrible. I failed to seat an intel heatsink properly the first time I tried.
When you're reseating the cooler, make sure the pins are going in properly. Your case has a removable side panel and a cutout in the motherboard tray so you can see if the pins have gone through properly.

If you have a stiff pin and it's not clicking properly, you can CAREFULLY support the motherboard from behind to let you push harder on the pin from the front. I've had to put worrying amounts of pressure on those crappy pins before to get the final "click" that locks it in place. It's a VERY POOR DESIGN, and I think everyone is in universal agreement about that.

You would think that the people designing heatsink retention mechanisms would have more of a clue by now. Did we learn nothing from the "bad old days" of Pentium 4 heatsinks that applied so much pressure they bent the motherboard, and Socket A heatsinks that cracked the CPU core or ripped the heatsink retention tabs right off the socket?

Seen the video.

Since Socket 775, the Intel retention mechanism has clearly been designed for low-cost of manufacture and quick application. Considering how much a motherboard costs, I would gladly pay $1 more if it included a steel backplate with four simple threaded holes in it.

Socket A was fun. I crushed the corner of the silicon installing a heatsink; such a fragile crystal! I thought it might still work, since the circuitry is on the bottom and I only crushed the top of the corner, but no dice... fortunately, it was just a $60 Duron.

As for Intel's HSF retention, the new Socket 2011 version is really nice (4 threaded screws, as requested). First time I've installed a heatsink without having to lean on a screwdriver for leverage, which always makes me feel like I might slip and gouge off a bunch of capacitors.

I'm worried that the OP has not reposted since mentioning heat problems. Thermal compound is important... and CPUs are not rated for 102C operation. I hope his CPU is not just another casualty.

Lol Saber " I hope his CPU is not just another casualty " That was beautiful. Actually every thing is fine. Since I'm not doing any OCing, I removed the heat sink, cleaned every thing off and reapplied thermal paste and now I am running inbetween 23c and while I'm gaming I get no higher than 35/40c. I've been watching it and it maintains rather nicer cooling temps, versus that of before. No errors on the log either, so I'm assuming my first attempt at setting the heatsink was failure. I'm still learning as I go but I'm becoming more and more comfortable. I had some issues with windows detecting my SSD in the beginning, solved that and everything is purring like a kitten once more. SO luckily I didn't damage anything... besides my pride in the beginning lol.

Hey all! It's been quite awhile since I've logged into these forums. Life has been a rollercoaster for quite some time but I am back in action. I want everyone to know that this PC is purring beautifully. I haven't removed or added anything since assembly *some time ago lol* Playing current gen games without a hitch! I'm debating on upgrading my video card perhaps but over all it plays anything I put on it. Only one game sends my GPU temps to Hades and back *Dead Island* but apparently I'm not the only one. How are things here? What's up?!

On a quick note, I forgot I had purchased >COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible with Intel 1366/1155/775 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065. Been meaning to install it... Hmmm.

EDIT >

Just installed the CM Hyper 212. It was pretty painless. I'm in the process of taking pics!
