HP Laserjet P1006 printer problem

Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:29 am

My wife and I recently received a brand new HP Lasert P1006 printer from my father in law. I installed the printer and made sure to peel the film off the toner cartridge. Everything seems to work fine (ie my computer recognizes the printer, paper feeds properly) except that the paper comes out of the printer just as blank as when it came in. Has anyone else experienced this that can help?
Thank you

Did you try printing a self-test page? Check the owner's manual, there's normally a sequence of printer buttons that will do this. If you still get a blank sheet, the problem is in the printer somewhere. If it prints a test sheet normally, then you may have a problem in how the printer driver or configuration are set up on the computer.

I have tried printing a test page, and it comes through blank. Should I uninstall/reinstall the printer?
Thank you.

If you did a test page via the printer buttons, then I shouldn't be a driver issue. One thing to check is that those printers when unpackaged usually have several orange plastic parts that need to be removed, including (vague memory here) the area where the toner cartridge goes. Try taking the toner cart back out and checking down in the printer.

my printer was kinda not in use for quite some time and now i'm starting to use it back. when printing a test page, there were lines on the printed paper. 4 lines throughout the paper to be exact. i had tried test printing repeatedly and also cleaning up the printer by troubleshooting. but still the result is the same. any recommendations?? :)

If you've got a laser printer, replace the toner. If it's an inkjet, replace the ink cartridges.

Might be a spammer. Might just be very new to this, and thought that you were giving her a Bangalore Script Special. She probably doesn't realize that the toner and ink reservoirs can respectively clump or dry out if a printer isn't used for an extended period, causing streaking to occur.

Or, your (bythylafh's) sig might have given offense to someone who's ESL and didn't realize it wasn't directed at them personally. (You might want to think about modifying that, even though it's not against forum rules.)

Haha  this is classic humor man! I was like WHOA, where'd the hostility come from? Then JBI nailed it.

I still call spammer. 2 posts into their TR career won't crush their soul if weeded out early! 8)
