2500k, 2tb backup, Motherboards

Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:45 pm

Newegg has the Core I5-2500k for 224.99 marked down to 209.99 with a $15 off code

They also have one of my favorite backup drives for sale at a pretty damn good price. These usually run for about $225 with sales and all of that, but with a $20 off code "EMCNHHB26" and a $50 mail-in-rebate from the manufacturer, it brings this sweet 2gb, fireproof/water proof backup drive to $179.99. That's a pretty good price if you consider the fire proof/water proof, the 1 year data recovery service.. "DRS: Data and hardware recovery for any loss, any reason - no questions asked. Also provides up to $1000 for forensic data recovery efforts"

You'd be hard pressed to find a 2tb HDD that's 7200rpm and an enclosure that comes anywhere near this quality or functionality for this price. The only "downside" to this is that it is USB 2.0, which is more than likely why they are selling them to make room for their USB 3.0 drives. They also have eSata drives which I elect not to use because of hot-swappability (like the word swapertunity :D) not being very uniformed across all systems with eSata. But if you just want to make sure that you have all of your important data like Tax information, family pictures/videos and the like, this would suit you very well and give you piece of mind.

They have lots of videos up, but here is one of the more impressive with their newer SSD based ones.

Freaking awesome. The other videos don't cut anything, and they show you them getting to the data that they put on the drive right before submerging it in a pool for a few hours after burning it in a fire above their heat rating. I've hooked up about 10 of these for different clients, more than half of those have been in place for over 2 years and they run flawless.

My third item is just something you'll find on newegg. All Asus motherboards are 10% off, any of them and I have confirmed that you can use discount codes on top of the 10% off :)

So, er, what's the model or where's the link for the 2 TB drive? It's ioSafe brand if it's the same as in the video.

I'd also like to know if it supports IEEE 1394 (FireWire 400/800) capable?

Looks like this one. No Firewire.

@Welch - Hot swap support for eSATA used to be kind of spotty, but has gotten a lot better.

Sorry i wrote that entire post via my phone and somehow forgot the link to the right IOSafe.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 01018-L08A

Please take a look there.. let me know if its showing up as a mobile page. Im also making this post via my phone as im in the process of building my new computer.

Found the listing under the newegg allstars sale for wednesday's shortbread.

Also after a $20 mail in rebate they have the corsair builders 430w for a mere 16.99. I noticed a good number of bad reviews but ive always been able to get things people swore were junk when they sisnt appear to be... and it works out great in the long term for me. A friend picked up on one of those supplies when they were on sale for 17.99 to upgrade his dell.
