The flip side of buying used photo equipment

Well, it finally happened...I noticed my Tokina AT-X 80-200mm f/2.8 (Canon EF mount) seemed to be running out of travel at infinity focus, and the sharpness had declined across the range ever so slightly. I took it into these guys and the estimate to calibrate and clean the lens was $120 with a queue depth of about three weeks

Having previously partially or totally disassembled a couple lenses, I have great respect for the amount of precision labor involved, and authorized the repair. But that's a steep premium for a lens that cost me $400 just a couple years ago.
