Hi guys,

Been looking forward to the HD 7870. I'm really thinking about selling my loud Gainward GTX 560 Ti and buying a custom cooled HD 7870, but i can't find it listed at any major e-tailers in my country.

How is it in your country? Is it available yet? If not any word when it might be?

They are scheduled to hit retail on the 19th (in America, at least).

Newegg has them now. Just checked!

It's interesting that the first products on Newegg are the hot-clocked versions with extra-large coolers.

Not really that interesting in my opinion. Generally the first people to buy a new card are early adopters and those with lots of cash in their pockets. So demanding a 20% (or more) premium for a first release/OC'd card is easy money from a retail standpoint.

The hot-clocked Radeon HD78xx cards initially stocked at Newegg were going for only 6% over the suggested retail for the reference cards.

Sounds like Newegg or someone is throwing early adopters a bone. It may be that the soon to be released Kepler cards are detracting from people jumping on the 7xxx bandwagon at this moment, and they simply want to snag a few people with those cards lower than usual (accounting for the stock OC). That portion of it is interesting at least
