Anyone install this yet? use it? reviews? comments?
yes. Vast improvements over Visual Studio 2010 in many, many ways. but the lack of a theme with color icons makes it terribly annoying.
project round-tripping between Visual Studio 11 and 2010 is fully supported, so you can take it for a test spin with existing projects without going through the project upgrade process.
You can now drill down into types within solution explorer. Using the context menu, you can find all references, view call hierarchy, ect. directly from solution explorer.
They added several more search boxes but this time it seems like they're actually a big improvement. There is a search / command bar up top right that you can use to find all menu items and execute commands / change settings.
Solution explorer has a search to find files / types within files. The error box has a search to trim down build errors and also a filter.... huge plus.
The thing I'm most excited about is the preview tab/ pinned tabs. When debugging all of the files you step into will open in a "preview tab". If you care about the file you can promote by pinning.. otherwise stepping through more code into another file will open the next file in the same tab. It will be nice to do debugging on complex issues without having 100 files open by the time you find where the real problem is.
Good review! Now. Am I missing something, but the only download I found, was for "Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express Beta for Windows 8", at:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... 29516.aspx
Does MSDN have the full (not express) beta version available?
