I just ordered the parts for my first custom build and I'll be working with the following:

Will the stock Intel cooler be sufficient or should I just order the COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO now? I do not intend to overclock at this point.

Without OC'ing the factory supplied cooler is fine. You may dislike its loudness, but it will cool perfectly well.

Just buy a cheap tower cooler like a Thermalright True Spirit or CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus....it will help you keep your sanity.

Need? Yes, if you're likely me and a noisy computer drives you insane.

You dont need an aftermarket cooler if you aren't overclocking. However, like others have said, the 212 EVO will be quieter when the CPU is at full load and it will keep your temps down probably 10C or more compared to stock. Another reason is.... aftermarket coolers look cool.(pun intended) Moreover, if you plan on overclocking somewhere down the road, you'll already have the cooler to do so.

You're not cheaping out on the other components, so investing in a cooler like the 212 EVO or a TRUE Spirit 120 is well worth it. They're pretty cheap and cooler don't get much better than that.

Thanks everyone, I went ahead and ordered the 212 EVO and got everything installed and up and running last night. It's whirring away nice and quiet and I'm glad I made the choice. Now I just need to remedy the noisy top fan in my Corsair 650D
