Re: In the UK then 30" 2560x1600 10bit monitor for £699.95+v

When I first read this thread I thought it was another spam bot that I was going to have to report.

Now instead I'm thinking about opening my wallet for a 30" monitor.

What's the point in 10bit colors if video signal is 8 bit? :-?

This is really only a short discount on the same kind of display as HP's ZR30w and Dell's U3011.

You'd have to compare quality and features to ensure that the cash you'd save (around $100-200 USD) would be worth it.

I'm happy with my ZR30w personally :).

HP's ZR30w is an 8bit not 10bit panel so it should be cheaper than the hazro but it isn't.

Sure, but 10-bit adds hassles that most people just don't need, and the 'feature' doesn't play well for this monitor- it's spec'd as a gaming monitor with obviously lower image quality than competing monitors with the same panels, yet includes an unwieldy 10-bit processor (the panel in the HP is 10-bit, but it's not set up that way).
