Skyfall trailer

At what point does Daniel Craig surpass Sean Connery as the best Bond ever... or has that already happened?

I guess that depends on perspective :). I think I liked Sean Connery better, but Daniel Craig fits the MI6 profile.

I was surprised to find that a lot of my co-workers dont like Craig as 007. Me personally I think its fits, I couldnt think of anyone other than Craig. I'll be sad to see him go from the series.

Actually, i'll be much happy, as i couldn't see any else other than Pierce Brosnan as 007.

Speaking of Bond, I really like the box art for the Bond 50th Anniversary blu-ray boxset (WARNING, HI-RES):

I'm hoping somebody will make it into a proper wallpaper.

Its kinda neat seeing the differences between them, like Craig being the only one packing more than a pistol and not wearing a bowtie. Connery is the only one with a (sort of) smile on his face.

It would be (have been) interesting to see what Brosnan could have done with the gritty 'noir' style script and directing they currently use instead of the cheese and fluff that really went overboard in the reign of Moore. However, I just don't see the previous Bonds being able to ask the villain to scratch his balls quite as convincingly as DC did without it coming off as a completely bad joke instead of a defiant gesture.

I think Brosan got screwed--the man can actually act pretty well, and could probably have done very well with scripts that didn't suck--the parts of the movies that were good (the few) showcased that he could have been a better Bond than he got to be.

I personally think Craig is kicking ass, but how much is him, vs the scriptwriters and directors moving away from the insanely campy crap? I can't tell. All I can tell is I like the new movies!

Also ranking Moore above Craig is insane. The Moore films were more or less awful.

Indeed. I think that's the real difference. The Brosnan films were way overboard and that's probably the reason that I don't like Brosnan Bond. It would be interesting to see Brosnan do something gritty. Connery is just overrated IMO.

qft, +1, X 90001. Some of the Connery movies were good but I don't think he was as central to the role as a lot of the original fans (like my dad) act. He was competent but I never felt like he really locked it in (for examples of someone locking in a role, see Eastwood in Good, Bad and Ugly).

My turn to give you the "qft+1*9K1"

There is no suspension of disbelief required for the Craig movies. No hybrid-hydroplane-submarines. No dudes with $million worth of diamonds embedded in his face. No dudes who can bite through high strength steel suspension cable. No silly parties in the middle of an arctic ice plate. No Octopussy. No jumping the shark with frickin laser beams. Just hard hitting, glass breaking, blood drawing, concussion-inducing action that you can feel in your chest, served up by some decent acting.

Agreed. However, I do believe that Brosnan has the requisite acting chops to have been able to pull off what Craig has done. Unfortunately, he was never given the chance. I also think that Dalton could have done the Craig roles as well.

Yes he can! When he guested on Doctor WHO as a Time Lord, he OWNED the screen when he was on it.

I hope Skyfall kicks butt. Casino Royale was pure awesome but QoS just seemed like it didn't know what it wanted to be.
A most unfortunate, Freudian, double entendre is that hotel named "Budget Inn."

I actually kind of liked QoS and don't understand all the hate for it. I don't think it was as good as Casino Royale but I didn't find it bad, and it was still a damn fun movie to watch (minus the south American bad guy that sounded like he had marshmallows in his mouth).

Since we're Bonding, here's a pic of the Fifth Doctor looking very Bondish and with a lovely Nicole Bryant/Peripugilliam Brown hanging off his shoulder in a Bond-appropriate bikini.

Have Pierce Brosnan as a future villan for Daniel Craig to fight against. Now, that's a potential Bond film I would see! :o
