Hey guys my office is looking for some free/open source compression/decompression apps for zip and more specifically rar files we get from clients. Any recommendations? Most everything I've looked at is a free 1 month trial but I figure their has to be a decent open source solution out there.

From their website:

  • Unpacking only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z.

PeaZip will do it as well, and maybe IZArc; the latter is free-as-in-beer (incl. for corporate use) but not open source.

I'm using 7-zip. Thanks guys. Makes me look good to the boss to save the company money, even if only 10-50 bucks
