Finally a low profile HD 7750 from sapphire

Fri Jun 08, 2012 6:34 am

http://www.techpowerup.com/167347/Sapph ... ofile.html

It gets all its power from the pci slot and comes with factory clocks!
A worthy upgrade from my LP 6570 at 850 core and 1050mem= a 6670 but with ddr3 mem.
Waiting on benchmarks on the lp 7750 and the kelper based lp 640 before i make a choice for my HTPC.

Has anyone seen the kelper 640 benches yet i have yet to find any along with power consumption. I have a giant 220watt psu:)
But i jerry rigged a usb cord to plug into a ipod charger to power a extra PSU fan and mounted a 80mm themaltake usb powered fan to extra cool pc but since it was a slim case i had to mount it externally on the side panel. But it looks very good since it came with nice fan grills and a knob to control fan speed.

The card is a dud, basically; way overpriced for its performance.

There's bound to be a 650, and that's the card that performance-wise will compete with the 7700 series. I would definitely stay away from the 640. Based on the specs it looks like a decent GPU but it has DDR3 memory and as a result is not going to be a big upgrade from your 6570.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Thanks for the benchmark link.

Yep looks like a dud to me also, I think i will be going with the the LP AMD hd7750 from sapphire or maybe asus with the ddr5 memory. Since it is hooked up to my panasonic 55" VT30 3dtv and the 7750 at 720p gives 60fps with BF3 and all HDMI 3d setups are limited to 24fps in 1080p but 60 fps in 720p on 3d tvs.
My overclocked Asus LP 6570 clocked at 850 core and 1050 mem ddr3 lets me play diablo 3 in 3d in 1080p at 24fps but with DIII you do not need high frame rates 24 is plenty. In 1080p with no 3d i get 35fps in diablo 3. 3D added more depth and allowed you to see the size of the different characters and monsters. #d worked great in D3 just the shadows where over 3Ded if you know what i mean.

Think i will highjack the g630 2.7ghz DC pentium cpu i am using right now at work and replace my g530 celery @ 2.4ghz. The extra 300mhz and extra 1 mb cache should help and from what i hear it does not use anymore wattage then the celeron. I have read the 2120 i3 at 3.3ghz and with HT uses less wattage then the g530, must be better binned chips or something.

One thing i noticed was i use the DVDfab program to turn 3d blurays into SBS mkvs. I did one 4gb file on the celeron g530 and it took 5-6hours....but dvd fab supports cuda and the same 4gb file on my signature 2600k 560ti sli setup did the same thing in 29 minutes:)

At its current SRP, this DDR3-equipped board is too expensive compared to the competition. This segment is riddled with strong competitors, (particularly the Radeon HD 7750, which blows GeForce GT 640 out of the water and sells for as low as $110).
Looking at the article, the 7750 wipes it's bottom with the 640; it's not even close, unfortunately. GT 650?

If its getting all its power from PCI-E, then its probably PCI-E 2.0/2.1-only. Which is a-okay with me. We could have alot more budget cards ditching the extra power connectors (or at least reducing them) if OEMs would drop compatibility with PCI-E 1.0/1.1. The higher performance cards would keep them anyway, since power straight from the PSU would be cleaner than whatever the motherboard provides.

Well in preparation for the 7750 low profile card i just got back from microcenter :) :) :) i had a 50$ gift card so i used it on a I3 2125 3.3ghz dual core with HT that cost 119$ - the $50 gift card so i got it for 69bucks.....wow what a difference my temps alone with the same cooler and $2 coolermaster thermal paste dropped the g530 celery chip that runs at 2.4ghz from 32 to 34c idle to 24-30c with the 2125 i3 chip.
Be back later with load temp tests super pumped up this cpu is fast! and the g530 was no slouch. now i have 900 more mhz more cache and hyperthreading whoo hoo.
Remember this is just my HTPC but it has a set of balls now:) just hope the 220 watt psu holds up. I think it will since i added a extra cooling fan to it from a hacked up usb cable and using a apple charging port to power my extra PSU fan and usb powered 80mm thermaltake side panel fan with speed ctrl knob to keep chipset cool since the case is so tight a 80mm fan would not even fit internally in the slim case. But not using any PSU power for my fans will help a lil bit:)

UPDATE:
Well it turns out the stupid chip was working with hyperthreading but was topping off at 2400mhz, same as the celeron g530...now that i fixed that problem and its running at 3300mhz the idle temps are only 2 c lower then the g530 fluctuating between 25-31c but stays around 30 c in a 70 degree room
As for load temps she topped out at 47c running cinebench and scored 3.33, so loaded it seems about 5c hotter. I wonder how many watts more it pulls under full load compared to the g530. Time to google and find out i guess. If anyone knows feel free to blurt it out:)
cheers

i agree, 7750 will destroy anything gt. that is really awesome, that is alot of power you can have in a low profile pc, just awesome.
