Currently playing Metro 2033 and it's amazing. Stalker SoC and CoP are amazing with the Complete mods, though Clear Sky is meh. Crysis is meh, has some fun moments but I'd be surprised if you don't wind up asking yourself "that was it?"

Crysis is as fun as the player makes it. It gives you tools and objectives and lets you accomplish them however you want.

If you're preferring a more crafted experience, you'll be disappointing, but if you like having more freedom and creating your own experience it's incredible.

As for OP, I'll suggest the natural mod for Crysis, it affects visuals only and makes it look better and run faster.

BulletStorm

Batman: Arkham City
Max Payne 3
Team Fortress 2
Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition (not an FPS, not ideal with keyboard but I still love it so I thought I'd mention it)

I like Unreal Tournament 3 - a few years old, but still entertaining for a good "sports" shooter. Very twitch-type gameplay though.

The quake-live broswer game is also free and nice to play.

I feel like I need to come back and give a shout out for Sanctum. This is another game I picked up on a Steam Weekend Deal/Free Weekend. FPS Tower Defense with multiplayer...pretty sweet execution. Okay, I think it needs some balancing, but it's still an awesome idea and lots of fun.

Nah, I don't agree at all. Spending an hour running from one site to another looking for a rocket launcher because the game decided "now's the time you fight a helicopter but oops you're not where we thought you'd be when the helicopter is triggered so you don't have any rocket launchers around" isn't fun. It's not "creating your own experience". It's floundering around in a big empty world that's superficially pretty for a few moments until you realize how empty it is.

Arham City...that reminds me: Harley Quinn DLC released. Can't wait to get a TV back in my apartment so I can fire up my 360 for that.

And yeah...I probably should have picked up Deus Ex (haven't actually played any of them), but I tried out Duels of the Planeswalkers (sp?) instead...already spent several hours on the demo, and I might buy the full version if I have a few friends playing.

FPS? Teamfortress 2. When a game appeals across genre lines you know its good. i'm not a big fan of FPS and yet sure enough i love playing TF2.

aside from that here are some general PC oriented games (non-MMO) that i've enjoyed over the last few years

Civ 5
Skyrim
Witcher 2
Sins of a Solar Empire
Starcraft 2
Fallout New Vegas

There is lots of other stuff i'd add to the list but they tend to be console ports (even if they are really well done ones like Batman Arkham City, Bethesda games avoid this because of their extensive Mod support)
i7 2700k, ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, Samsung 530 128GB, WD 1TB Black, LG 12X BD-R, Coolermaster COSMOS, Win7,

These are my favorites from the last few years:

1.Left 4 Dead 2
2.STALKER series
3.Amnesia: The Dark Descent (buy some diapers first :D )
4.Borderlands
5.BF3

I would have recommended Deus Ex and Fallout3 but it looks like you already have those. :)

L4D2 and BF3 are primarily multi-player though. L4D2 is one of the best MP FPS games of all time though IMO (along with BF1942 and Quake II). Metro 2033 and Crysis are great graphics showcases and had pretty good gameplay, but they didn't really blow me away apart from the graphics.

I'm really loving DayZ lately too, but I get the feeling that's not going to be your type of game since it's an ALPHA mod and multiplayer. You can spend hours/days kitting yourself out with great equipment/vehicles/etc, only to lose it all in an instant. It's a rare game where dying actually means something, instead of just "Respawn" or "Load savegame". Some people hate that kind of experience, but I love it.

And while technically not a FPS, I had a lot of fun with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Well, there are crossbows in the upcoming DLC, lol! Fallout 3 kind of fits the FPS description though, also great game!
