GPO - Removing IE Favorites

Thu Jun 28, 2012 10:56 am

Group Policy now pushes down URL's to users IE favorites. A side effect of this action, is now three folders have suddenly appeared in IE favorites:
  • Microsoft Websites
  • MSN Websites
  • Windows Live

I found a great bat file (link to webpage) that fixes this by hiding those folders using the ATTRIB + H command. Unfortunately user accounts on the terminal server cannot successfully run this command (Error: Access is denied). Oddly enough users can run this command on the Vista & Windows 7 boxes. Don't suppose anyone knows an alternative to the attrib command, or if there is a way to stop these folders from being generated by GPO?
