Monitor Blackout Problem

Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:12 pm

Hey all,

I have a strange issue that crops up from time to time. I am running a Radeon 4890 and windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

The issue is that, at what appear to be random intervals spaced weeks apart, my screen starts to go black for about a second everytime I move, minimize, or maximize a window on my desktop. I can fix the problem with a reboot, or simply by changing my screen resolution to a lower resolution and then right back up to my normal 1920x1080. After fixing, it won't crop up for another few weeks at least.

Anyone else ever come across this type of issue?

I just noticed that we basically have a quite similar Core 2 platform (assuming it is still the one on your signature). I have gone through a number of Nvidia and Radeon cards on it and I have the HD 6870 on it right now. I have never encountered the problem you posted. Have you tried updating your graphics driver? Also you might want to try running stability tests prior to an "anticipated weeks apart" cycle.
