I bought one of these a couple of years ago for field use (converting a single Ethernet drop to 7 additional drops) and it's been completely trouble-free. Now if only the 16-port version would come down in price.

FWIW Newegg also has 8-port gigabit Rosewill switches with metal cases for $29.99 with free shipping.
