Remote Mac Backup

Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:40 am

I currently back up my MacbookPro with Carbon Copy Cloner (http://www.bombich.com/). The program recently changed from freeware to a commercial product, and I want to stay with it since it does exactly what I want, make a bootable copy of my drive. My thought process is that if I happened to drop my Macbook, I could change out the drives and keep humming along. The only issue is that I keep the backup in the same location, so if there was a fire, I would lose both.

I want to see if it is possible to do the same backup via carbon copy cloner, but to a remote drive. Is it possible to hook up just a remote drive to a cheap mac or router in another location and have it mapped to the laptop I currently use?
