rosewill cherry brown keyboard for $68

Thu Aug 23, 2012 7:51 am

It's on sale for $80, and a -%15 code (EMCNBHG53) brings it to $68.

Nice find! This particular sale is interesting because you usually see browns being the most expensive in that line-up. Now they're the same.

Had that in my cart this morning - couldn't quite pull the trigger. I'll wait for the backlit version.

Thanks, just took the plunge. I'm a bit nervous about the supposedly flaky USB connection, but we'll see.

Me too. I figure if it fails out of warranty, then I'll get a soldering iron that doesn't suck, repair it, and put on some hotglue.

I have this keyboard but with the blue cherry switches. The usb thing hasn't broken for me, and I don't see it breaking unless i'm not careful with it.

However, upon start up the keyboard may not be detected, so I just replug it in and it will be detected. I think this is just because of a lousy usb chip in the keyboard.

Google flexible Epoxy. Goop liberally around said connector and call it a day. Make sure and sandpaper around the connector for better adhesion first.

(We don't have a mechanical keyboard thread, do we?) Well, mine came in yesterday. So far so good, though I'm going to need a wrist support since the typing surface is higher than my old keyboard. About the USB connection: haha, oh wow, they weren't kidding. It's a micro-USB just sticking out the back side, and the cable they give you is fairly stiff too. Time to borrow a hot glue gun...

I had a chance to look at all four Rosewill boards while in Singapore (amazingly, one shop in Sim Lin had them all for display and testing) and I honestly had a hard time feeling a difference between the Reds, Blacks, and Browns. The Browns felt quite linear with only a faint tactile response. Only the Blues really stood out, and mostly because they're just as loud on the Rosewill as they are on my Blackwidow!

Edit: Promo code dead, but I'm grabbing one anyway. I've been wanting one with white backlighting and a good wrist rest, will have to pick up the wrist rest at some point; any suggestions on those?
