Have you tried Google's Octane Javascript benchmark suite yet?

Please post your results here.
The reason I am posting this in the mobile tech section, is that the results from mobile devices are probably the most interesting to see.

Here are results from two devices:

1. HP Touchpad: Score 858
Firmware: CM9 alpha (ICS based)
Browser : Chrome on Android

2. X120e (AMD E350 netbook): 3421
Windows 7 HP
Chrome

Well 63 views and no response? I hope at least someone here has the time to run the benchmark on their phone/tablet/netbook etc

5757 on an XPS 14 using Opera 12.01 Win7 Pro. Pretty much the same in Win 8

Tried with IE 9 but didn't work at all and can't be bothered with it to work out why!

Edit: Out of interest I just installed Chrome and I get 13226. Draw your own conclusions from that...

Edit 2: Tested on IE 11 on Win8 Enterprise. It works! I get 2575 on the same machine.

There seems to be a lot of variability in the results reported by various people for the same device.

Thanks! Yes AFAIK the benchmark itself runs in 1 thread. There may be slight advantage to having a dual-core system as some activites (such as JIT compilation of javascript, or system activities) may be done in another thread, but the benchmark code is single-threaded. But then again, most Javascript benchmarks such as Sunspider, Mozilla Kraken are single threaded as Javascript does not have good APIs to do multi-threaded computation. There are WebWorkers, but those have limited applicability IMO and not used in this benchmark.

I am using the Octane 2.0 version of that benchmark.

Just installed a copy of CloudReady (a turn-key Chromebook clone) from Nevermore.com on one of my experimental rigs an Dell Optiplex 760 desktop (Intel Duo 2 MHz) tricked out with 4 GB of memory and the cheapest GPU card I could find that would run Seti calculations on the GPU. Just got a score of: 16069.

An ASUS C300 Chromebook I have usually gets about: 8502 or so.

An Aspire One 722-0473 I have (its a sub-notebook) gets about: 4770 under Windows 7 and a current release of Chrome. It ran a lower number when I was running Xlxe (a version of Light Ubuntu, Linux). I have forgotten how well it did while running CloudReady.

I have an elderly HP Workstation running a moderately fast Xeon cpu that eats all their lunches with something like 24,000... while crunching Seti in the background and on the GPU...

This result seems unusual to me because other benchmarks (e.g.: AnTuTu) have shown the Nexus 7 tablet to be much slower than the Samsung tablet. It is so slow as to be unusable on some web pages.

Octane's a Google benchmark so you would expect it to run well on Chrome. Also, other things may be happening such as page cache writes to eMMC that could be crippling your Nexus 7. Incidentally, Nexus 7 is the only device of mine I've smashed with extreme violence because it was such an unspeakable piece of crap after Lollipop update.

FX 8320 (4.2 GHz, 32GB-2133, not idle but not loaded, 10ish Chrome tabs) : Chrome = 24010

VM - Guest: Win10 Pro x64, 1vcpu, 2GB, on Intel 730 SSD local Datastore; Host: Phenom II X2 3.5 GHz, 12GB-1333, ESXi 6.0u1b : Edge = 13387 (impressive considering the specs)

Edit: Base 1.33GHz, Turbo 1.86. I think it could be running in turbo as the test is single-threaded and it's a pleasantly cool day.
