Microsoft Essentials. Its unobtrusive and i like it better then avast and avg free. Sorry those are the only ones i have used so far MSE is the one i like best. Plus its also free:)

Perhaps, but if it's a deperate person with an infected machine, MSE is a good answer but not a complete answer. He/She'll need something like Malware Bytes Anti-Malware to get an infected machine clean again, most likely.
Some people ask me why I have always enclosed my signature in spoiler tags; There is a good reason for that, but I can't elaborate without giving away the plot twist.
